Silver penny of Cnut (Canute). Minted in Bath, England, 1016-35 CE. He was the first king of England to introduce a more contemporary styles of coins. One type shows him wearing a helmet. This is a typical helmet of the type worn by Anglo-Saxons, Normans and Vikings in the 11th century. Contrary to the popular myth about Viking helmets, they had no horns. Diam. 20 mm. Weight: 1.04 g.
