The nephew of the playwright Anton Chekhov, Mikhail Chekhov (1891-1955) is regarded by many as one of the greatest actors of the 20th century, whose acting methods influenced many Hollywood stars. He emigrated from the Soviet Union in the late 1920s after he was fired from the Moscow Art Theatre, moving to the United States in 1938. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
