The first building of the Lebedev Physics Institute (FIAN), Moscow, USSR, 20th century. Named after Russian physicist Pyotr Lebedev (1866-1912), the Lebedev Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences was established by Sergey Vavilov in 1934. Scientists from the institute have won four Nobel Prizes for Physics. Found in the collection of the Lebedev Physics Institute (FIAN), Moscow.
