Sunken warship HMS 'Vindictive', Ostend, Belgium, World War I, 1918. A cruiser launcehed in 1897, HMS 'Vindictive' was modified in 1918 with her guns replaced by howitzers, flame throwers and mortars to launch attacks on the German-held Belgian Channel ports of Zeebrugge and Ostend. She was heavily damaged in the first raid on Zeebrugge on 23rd April and was then sunk as a blockship during the Second Ostend Raid on 10th May. Stereoscopic card detail.
