'Sculpture on the Wall at the Upper End of the Cave, Island of Elephanta', India, 1799. The Elephanta Caves are located on Elephanta Island in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai. They contain reliefs and sculptures relating to the worship of the Hindu god Shiva. The caves are thought to have been used for worship since c600 AD.
