The new US Navy cruiser USS 'Houston', Houston, Texas, USA, 1946. Vintage postcard showing a crowd of people standing along the shore watching the ship. The 'Houston' was a heavy cruiser commissioned in 1930. She was sunk at the Battle of Sunda Strait off Indonesia on 29 February 1942 during World War II. 368 of her crew of 1061 survived but were taken prisoner by the Japanese.
