City Hall and Market House, Houston, Texas, USA, 1909.
City Hall and Market House, Houston, Texas, USA, 1909. Vintage postcard showing the exterior of the City Hall and Market House and surrounding area. Horse-drawn vehicles and pedestrians are on the sidewalk and streets. The building has two towers. Houston's City Hall occupied this location from 1841. The building had to be rebuilt twice, in 1870 and again in 1901, after fires. The city's government moved to a new Art Deco building built in 1938-1939. The old City Hall and Market House were converted to a bus station but were demolished in 1960.
