Arsenal FC captain Eddie Hapgood runs onto the pitch at Highbury, London, 1930s. A left back, Hapgood (1908-1973) was Arsenal's captain from 1933. In all he made 393 appearances for the club between 1927 and 1944 and also captained England in the 1930s. He is followed onto the field by centre half Herbie Roberts (1905-1944), who played 297 times for Arsenal between 1926 and 1937.
