King Manuel II of Portugal shooting at Windsor, Berkshire, 1909. Manuel (1889-1932) was visiting King Edward VII. He was the last King of Portugal, coming th the throne after the assassination of his father, Carlos I, and elder brother, Prince Luis Filipe, in 1908. In October 1910 the Portuguese monarchy was overthrown by a republican revolution and Manuel was forced into exile in Britain. A print from L'Illustration, 27 November 1909.
