Ligonier's Horse at the Battle of Dettingen, 20th June 1743. The Battle of Dettingen took place at Dettingen in Bavaria during the War of the Austrian Succession. The British and their Hanoverian and Hessian allies defeated the French. The battle was the last occasion when a British monarch, George II, personally led his troops in battle.
