The Auditorium Building, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1910.
The Auditorium Building, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1910. Postcard. Designed by Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan, Chicago's Auditorium Building was built in 1886-1890. It housed the Auditorium Theatre, that was home to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra until 1904, offices and a 400 room hotel. The theatre closed during the Depression and in 1946 Roosevelt University took over the building and still use it today. In 1967 the Auditorium Theatre reopened and in the late 1960s and early 1970s was Chicago's premier venue for rock concerts.
