Charles, Duke of Orleans, (1806). Charles (1394-1465) was wounded and captured by the English at the Battle of Agincourt. He was held hostage (albeit in comfortable conditions for 25 years as Henry V deemed him too important to be returned to France because of his position in the line of succession to the French throne. An accomplished poet, he wrote much of his poetry during his captivity.
