The book was an account of the first successful journey by motor vehicle from Cape Town to Cairo, accomplished by Stella Court Treatt and her husband, Major Chaplin Court Treatt, in 1924-1926. The Niam-Niam (Zande) are a people of northern central Africa, including south-western Sudan.
