'An art critic', 1871.Artist: Coide
'An art critic', 1871. A caricature of William Henry Gregory (1817-1892), Anglo-Irish writer and Conservative politician. Gregory served as MP for Dublin from 1842-1847 and for Galway from 1857-1872, before being appointed Governor of Ceylon, a post which he held until 1877. He had a keen interest in the arts, which led to him having a long association with the British Museum.
