Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London, 20th century.
Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London, 20th century. The House of Commons and the House of Lords reside in the Palace of Westminster, an icon of London, Britain and British government. The oldest part of the palace is Westminster Hall, built by King William Rufus, son of William the Conqueror, in 1097. Much of the present building was designed by Charles Barry and Augustus W Pugin, and was constructed between 1837 and 1858, when the clock tower was completed.
