Ladies Wishing Chair, Logan Rock, near Treen, Cornwall, late 19th or early 20th century. Artist: Church Army Lantern Department
Ladies Wishing Chair, Logan Rock, near Treen, Cornwall, late 19th or early 20th century. The Logan Rock is a granite boulder weighing around 80 tons. It is finely balanced on the rock beneath it due to the actions of weathering and can be made to rock. In 1824, in an attempt to demonstrate the prowess of the Royal Navy, a group of sailors dislodged the rock, but were later forced to return it to its original position after the locals, for whom the rock had become a lucrative tourist attraction, complained.
