Duke and Duchess of Angouleme.
Duke and Duchess of Angouleme. Louis-Antoine, Duke of Angouleme (1775-1844), married Marie-Therese Charlotte, the only surviving child of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette, in 1799. In 1830, after the abdication of Charles X, they were briefly (for about 20 minutes) King and Queen of France before deciding not to accept the throne, which passed to Louis-Philippe instead.
