Soldiers and nurses at Great Dixter, Northiam, East Sussex, WWI, 1916. Artist: Nathaniel Lloyd
Soldiers and nurses at Great Dixter, Northiam, East Sussex, WWI, 1916. A group of convalescent soldiers with nurses in the rose garden at Great Dixter, Northiam. The men wear coats and the plants are bare, so the picture must have been taken during the winter. Sir Edwin Lutyens had worked on this house a few years before it became a convalescent hospital for soldiers invalided home from the 1st World War.
