The Ring at Blackfriars, London, 1941. Artist: SW Newbery
The Ring at Blackfriars, London, 1941. Most of the building has been destroyed, all that is left is part of the back wall and an inner circle of arches. The foreground is completely taken up with the rubble. In 1910 the building was converted into a boxing arena but was destroyed by enemy action during World War II. The Ring at Blackfriars was formerly the Surrey Chapel which was closed in 1881.
