Jean Harlow (1911-1937), American actress, c1930s-c1940s. Harlow's big break in Hollywood came when Howard Hughes cast her in his sound remake of Hell's Angels (1930). She went on to appear in a number of films (including The Public Enemy (where she appeared with James Cagney) and Platinum Blonde (both 1931)) before her untimely death at the age of 26. It was roles such as theo one in Platinum Blonde which earned her the nickname The Blonde Bombshell.
