Ann Sheridan (1915-1967), American actress, c1930s-c1940s.
Ann Sheridan (1915-1967), American actress, c1930s-c1940s. Signed to a contract by Paramount at 18, Sheridan was put into a number of small roles under her real name of Clara Lou Sheridan. As her acting improved, her name was changed to Ann and, in 1936, she moved to Warner Bros. where she matured into a leading star. Warner Bros. dropped her in 1948, but Howard Hawks cast her opposite Cary Grant in I Was a Male War Bride (1949) and she continued to make films into the 1950s, retiring from the big screen before the end of the decade.
