Tower Bridge with shipping in the Pool of London and at Hay's Wharf, Southwark, London, c1945-c1965. Artist: SW Rawlings
View looking east towards Tower Bridge with shipping in the Pool of London and vessels docked at Hay's Wharf, Southwark, London, c1945-c1965. Hay's Wharf is the oldest wharf in the Port of London. Cold storage was pioneered here during the 1860s. Even when this photograph was taken shortly after the Second World War, the Pool of London was busy with traffic. Today it is virtually empty and many of the warehouses have gone.
