Cloister of Church of St Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, London, 1915.
Cloister of Church of St Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, London, 1915. Pieces of masonry are laid out on a table and the floor, suggesting that some form of restoration work is in progress. The church is the only surviving part of a priory founded in 1123. Following the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century, some of the monastic buildings were destroyed, whilst others were leased out. The cloister at one time was used as stables.
