Interior of Church of St Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, City of London, 1915.
Interior of the Church of St Bartholomew the Great in West Smithfield, City of London, 1915. The church is the only surviving part of a former priory founded in 1123. The choir which is pictured here, was constructed by Rahere, the first prior. During the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century, parts of the priory were destroyed, but the choir was retained for use by parishioners.
