Sir John Soane monument, St Pancras Gardens, London, 1960-1972. Artist: John Gay
Sir John Soane monument, St Pancras Gardens, London, 1960-1972. The tomb of architect and collector Sir John Soane (1753-1837). St Pancras Gardens was formerly part of the burial ground of St Pancras Old Church. The railway lines leading into St Pancras Station were driven through part of the old churchyard. The vault is of his own design and the design was a direct influence on Giles Gilbert Scott's design for the red telephone box.
