William Wyndham Grenville, 1st Baron Grenville, British Whig statesman and Prime Minister, 1829. Lord Grenville (1759-1834) was the son of George Grenville, also a Whig politician who became Prime Minister. The younger Grenville served as Prime Minister from February 1806 until March 1807. His government fell over a failed attempt to introduce Catholic emancipation, but did succeed in passing the law abolishing the slave trade.
