Marketing strategy meeting, Danish Bacon Company, Wilsic, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 1961. Artist: Michael Walters
Marketing strategy meeting, Danish Bacon Company, Wilsic, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 1961. In an effort to boost sales of their products, Danish Bacon launched a four star marketing campaign for grocers and butchers. This provided incentives for the development of the products, and marketing in a similar way to which today's marketing strategies are deployed. In the photograph, members of the DBC sales team present the 4 point marketing strategy (as can be seen on the blackboard) to shopkeepers. One early example of customer incentives is the free tin opener promotion on the table, which can be obtained by buying a tin of Glenville Custard.
