A traditional lubrication bay and mechanic at a garage, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, 1965. Artist: Michael Walters
A traditional lubrication bay and mechanic at a garage, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, 1965. Until recent times, Lubrication bays were a common sight in garages across the UK. Laycock Engineering in Sheffield manufactured this one and they provided a tidy and convenient way of adding fluids or air etc from wall mounted retractable supply lines. On the ramp is an Austin Westminster which dates from around 1962.
