New road development beside the Old Market Hall, Mexborough, South Yorkshire, 1970. Artist: Michael Walters
New road development beside the Old Market Hall, Mexborough, South Yorkshire, 1970. A Morris Minor makes its way up the new road development which bypassed the centre of the town. The houses behind the Old Market Hall were demolished soon after to make way for the new Tesco's town centre development. The Market Hall, which bears posters for Gillette and the NUM was acquired by the Weatherspoon's chain in 2008 and after substantial investment, was opened as a pub and restaurant in 2009.
