Claire Bloom, English film and stage and television actress, c1947-1955(?). Claire Bloom made her London stage debut in 1947 when just 16 years old, and the following year made a highly acclaimed performance as Ophelia in Hamlet. Her first film role was in 1948 in The Blind Goddess. She became a star after her performance in Charlie Chaplin's Limelight in 1952. Claire Bloom also appeared in a number of television films and seroes, notably as Lady Marchmain in Brideshead Revisited (1981).
