'The beautiful Temple of Hathor at Denderah, Egypt', 1905.Artist: Underwood & Underwood
'The beautiful Temple of Hathor at Denderah, Egypt', 1905. 'Here before us is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt. The part which we see was built under the Roman Emperor Tiberius, in the first century AD, when Egypt was a Roman province. The halls lying in the rear were the work of the later Ptolemys just before Rome acquired Egypt, so this temple marks for us the transition from Greek to Roman domination in the Nile valley.' Stereoscopic card. Detail. From a series called Egypt Through the Stereoscope, text by James H Breasted.
