Count Paul Andreyevich Shuvalov, Russian soldier and statesman, c1860s-c1870s. Shuvalov (1830-1908) served with distiction in the Crimean War. From 1885 until 1894 he was Russian ambassador to Germany, helping to end a toll war between the two countries. He retired from public office in 1896 after two years as Governor-General of Warsaw.
