French clock, Tapestry Room, Blair Castle, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland. Artist: Tony Evans
French clock, Tapestry Room, Blair Castle, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland. The seat of the Earls and Dukes of Atholl, Blair Casle is one of the greatest stately homes in Scotland. In 1746, during the Jacobite Rebellion, it was the last British castle to endure a siege. The Tapestry Room houses the Mortlake Tapestries which used to belong to King Charles I but were sold by Oliver Cromwell after the King's execution. The collection was discovered in Paris and purchased by the 1st Duke of Atholl.
