Terraced miners' housing, Denaby Main, South Yorkshire, mid 1960s. Artist: Michael Walters
Terraced miners' housing, Denaby Main, South Yorkshire, mid 1960s. These houses were typical of the type of affordable housing constructed for the workforce. These were constructed in 1861 and stood until 1967. The houses were two up, two down with a back yard. Water was not installed until 1902 and gas powered the lighting until 1951 when electricity was installed.
