Plan of Hyde Park, 1867.  Artist: Anon
Plan of Hyde Park, 1867. 'Plan showing the intended alterations in 'The People's' (formerly 'Hyde') Park'. A comment on Beales and the Reform League, who in 1867 attempted to hold a meeting in the park. The legality of the meeting was contested and riots ensued. Railings were torn up and Grenadiers and Lifeguards were sent into the park. Ultimately meetings were permitted and peaceably held. © The London Archives (City of London)/Heritage Images
