Walter Elliot, Scottish Unionist politician, 1933.
Walter Elliot, Scottish Unionist politician, 1933. Elliot first entered Parliament as the Member for Lanark in 1918. He entered the Cabinet in 1932 as Minister of Agriculture, and later served as Secretary of State for Scotland and Minister of Health. His political fortunes declined after he narrowly decided against resigning over the 1938 Munich Agreement, and when Churchill succeeded Chamberlain as Prime Minister in 1940, Ellliot was dropped from the government. A print from a supplement to The New Statesman and Nation, 18th November 1933.
