St Barbara, 1886. A Christian martyr who died c235, St Barbara was shut up in a tower to protect her from suitors. She is said to have put a third set of windows into the tower to represent the trinity. St Barbara is the Patron saint of arsenals and artillery and a protector against lightning. Published in Butler's Lives of the Saints, DIV 4, by the Rev Alban Butler, London & Dublin, 1886.
