Chichester Festival Theatre, Oaklands Park, Chichester, West Sussex, 1962-1980. The exterior of the Chichester Festival Theatre, showing its hexagonal design and reinforced-concrete construction. Founded by local ophthalmic optician Leslie Evershed-Martin, it was built in 1961-1962 by Powell & Moya. It was the first theatre in Britain to have an open stage with the audience seated on three sides.
