The beach and Clock Tower, Herne Bay, Kent, 1890-1910. A view along the shingle beach towards the Clock Tower. Herne Bay developed as a seaside resort in the 1830s. The clock was built by Edwin Dangerfield in 1837 and stands roughly in the centre of the promenade.
