Urban redevelopment in Swinton, South Yorkshire, 1957. Artist: Michael Walters
Urban redevelopment in Swinton, South Yorkshire, 1957. The photograph shows Albert Street in Swinton. It was taken to support an application for the demolition of the houses to erect more modern dwellings. In the middle of the terrace can be seen the local shop (with the Fry's Chocolate sign above) which was located in one of the houses. The street was subsequently demolished. This type of urban redevelopment would today be classed as a 'Brown Field' site.
