Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 1936.
Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 1936. Vintage linen postcard showing the exterior of Independence Hall, a red brick structure with a steeple, from the Chestnut Street side. Officially known as the Pennsylvania State House, this Georgian building was built in the mid 18th century. It was the site of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and where the US Constitution was drafted and signed in 1787. The bell tower was the original home of the Liberty Bell, one of the most famous symbols of the American Revolution.
