The largest railway station in the world by number of platforms, Grand Central Terminal was built between 1903 and 1913. It was designed by architectural firms Reed and Stem and Warren and Wetmore. The New York Central Building is in the background. Built in 1929 as the headquarters of the New York Central Railroad Company, it is now named the Helmsley Building.
