A view of the city is in the distance. The stadium opened in 1911 and was also the home of the New York Yankees from 1912 until 1922. The Giants left the city for San Francisco in 1957 and the Polo Grounds became home to the newly formed New York Mets for their first two seasons before it was demolished in 1964.
