The gardens at Walmer Castle, Deal, Kent, 1996. The moat has been planted as a garden since the 19th century. Walmer Castle was built in 1539 as part of a chain of artillery forts to guard the south coast. The Castle is now the residence of the Warden of the Cinque Ports, currently the Queen Mother.
