Charles Denis Bourbaki, French soldier and general, 1868. Bourbaki commanded an army during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870-1871. He failed to break through the Prussian lines at Belfort, and was forced to lead his army across the border into neutral Switzerland where they were disarmed. Bourbaki attempted suicide afterwards.
