Andre Tardieu, French statesman, 1919. Tardieu (1876-1945) was elected to France's Chamber of Deputies in 1914. In 1919 he was Prime Minister George Clemenceau's lieutenant at the Paris Peace Conference. Tardieu later went on to serve as Prime Minister of France three times between 1929 and 1932.
