Theodore Botrel, French singer-songwriter, 1911. Botrel (1868-1925) was well known for his popular songs about his native Brittany. During the First World War he became France's official 'Bard of the Armies'. He had attempted to join the French and Belgian armies to fight but was rejected from both because of his age.
