Imperial Institute, London, 20th Century.
Imperial Institute, London, 20th Century. Designed by Sir Thomas Colcutt and opened in 1887, the Imperial Institute was intended to be a 'monument to the emerging imperial sentiment'. The buildings were demolished in the 1950s and 1960s after the institute closed, with the exception of the Queen's Tower, which still stands today on the campus of Imperial College. Postcard from The Souvenir Album, Views of London And The River Thames, From London To Oxford, (London, 20th Century).
