Capture of Liuren Castle, Sino-Japanese War, 27 October 1894. The First Sino-Japanese War was fought in 1894-1895 between Qing Dynasty China and Meiji Japan over the control of Korea. The outcome, a victory for Japan, emphasised the decline of Chinese power and the rise of Japan since it opened up to the West in the 1850s. Part of a Private Collection.
