Adolf Hitler in conversation with German air force fighter ace Adolf Galland, 1941. Prior to the Second World War Galland (1912-1996) served with the Condor Legion in the Spanish Civil War. By the end of 1941, with 94 victories to his name, he was chosen by Hermann Goring to command Germany's fighter forces. He is pictured here in January 1941 with Hitler during a visit by the Fuhrer to the front when Galland was commander of the 26th Fighter Wing.
